The Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) is a statutory, funded pension scheme. As such it is very secure because its benefits are defined and set out in law.
The LGPS is a national scheme in which each administering authority has their own pension fund and membership. Ealing’s own fund membership at 31st March 2010 was 19,827, which includes 6,373 actives, 5,294 pensioners, 6,072 deferreds.and 813 widows/dependants.
