Westminster PensionsWelcome to the Westminster Pensions site administered by the London Pensions Fund Authority. The Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) is a statutory, funded pension scheme. As such it is very secure because its benefits are defined and set out in law. The LGPS is contracted-out of the State Second Pension (S2P) and must, in general, provide benefits at least as good as most members would have received had they been members of S2P. The LGPS is a national scheme in which each administering authority has their own pension fund and membership. Westminster ’s own fund membership was 19,494 at 31st March 2011. The administration of Westminster pensions is undertaken by the LPFA and work involves the handling of employees' and pensioners' records in respect of all issues relating to their membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme (except funding). All work must be undertaken in line with the relevant legislation and is monitored to ensure compliance with service standards and Westminster policy. Scheme reformBroad agreement has been reached between unions and the Government over the future of the Local Government Pension Scheme. Please use the scheme news section to keep updated with developments. Members: Absence due to a Trade Dispute - Payment of Contributions
